of domestic and foreign tourists respectively observed in the year
2004, Rajasthan is emerging as a premier tourism destination
worldwide. The tourism products offered by Rajasthan as varied as
Heritage Tourism, Spiritual Tourism, Wild Life & Eco-Tourism,
Cultural Tourism, Film Tourism, MICE Tourism and Desert Tourism.
Tourism occupies a significant place in the state's economy as a
major source for revenue and employment. Realising the importance of
tourism in the economic development, the state government has taken
various policy measures for establishing tourism as an industry. The
state Government has been constantly endeavoring towards maximising
benefit of tourism sector.
Supporting the emergence of Tourism as a significant industry in
Rajasthan are the initiatives of the state government viz.
organizing new festivals to promote Rajasthan as an 'Year Round
Tourism Destination', introducing Public Private Partnership model
in key tourism projects in the state, offering historical monuments
for adoption to private sector etc.
