Pharmacy Course: At
present 24 Private and one Govt. aided Pharmacy institutes are
conducting Degree Level Pharmacy Course (B-Pharma) with total
intake capacity of 1550 students per year. Similarly, 19 Private
and one Govt. aided Pharmacy institutions are conducting Diploma
Level Pharmacy Course with total intake capacity of 1200
students per year. Thus a total of 45 Pharmacy institutions are
functioning in the State.
Polytechnic: At present, 19 government co-education
polytechnic colleges and 7 women polytechnic colleges are
functioning in the State. These offer diploma level programs in
various engineering branches. Besides, 2 private polytechnic
colleges are also functioning. These colleges are offering
engineering diploma in 18 disciplines and 6 non-engineering
disciplines. The total intake capacity of these institutions is
3640.
The Hon'ble Chief Minister has announced in budget speech
2006-07 that the State Government will provide free of cost land
to private investors who intend to establish Polytechnic / ITI
in lagging areas i.e. districts which do not have Polytechnic
and Panchayat Samiti Blocks which do not have ITIs. The
Government will also provide building for the private investors
who intend to establish Women Polytechnic in the lagging
district. Pursuant to the budget announcement the department has
issued a policy in this regard and has invited proposals from
the private sector. The department has approved 6 proposals for
women polytechnic and 3 proposals for co-ed polytechnic under
this scheme. Similarly 50 proposals for private ITI covering 50
Panchayat Samiti Blocks have also been approved under this
scheme.
Industrial Training Institute (ITI): At present 126
ITIs with 11844 seats in the public sector, and 77 ITIs with
6186 seats in the private sector, are functioning in the State.
The Government intends to setup ITI's at each Panchayat Samiti
with the private sector participation.
