1. Revision of State's IT Policy State's first IT Policy was announced in April, 2000. A new IT and ITeS policy is on the anvil. The new policy document aims at creating a synergy with prevailing and emerging technological & economic trends.

2. e-Mitra- IT based Citizen Services Providing services of various government departments through an integrated platform to common man is one of the key priorities of the state government. In this regard pilot projects for rural and urban areas by the name of JanMitra and LokMitra respectively were running successfully since last 3 years. Now the two have been integrated into e-Mitra as an I.T. enabled single window. The services are available through Jan Mitra kiosks in rural areas, Lok Mitra centers in urban areas and also through a web portal.

Presently the system is in place in Jaipur, Jhalawar, Bikaner and Udaipur. It is to be made operational at the remaining districts shortly. The project is being implemented on Public Private Partnership model.

3. Secretariat Networking Secretariat networking project involves creation of state-of-the-art network connecting about 3500+ users within the Secretariat Campus while also integrating this with the proposed Rajasthan Statewide Area Network (RSWAN), State Data Center and network of about 31 other Departments/Government buildings in Jaipur (Metropolitan Area Network - MAN). VoIP based telephony is also a component of the same. The project Document Management System (DMS) to provide seamless collaboration, communication and knowledge sharing across and beyond enterprise is also being implemented under SecLAN. The Digital Work Flow System is being deployed to make Electronic files movement feasible through SecLAN.

4. Creation of a State Data Center A state data center has been set up to enable vertical and horizontal integration of departmental data & services. This data center is the core of the State level information infrastructure, which in turn would integrate geographically distributed data repositories.

5. GIS based Decision Support System ( Vikas Darpan) Use of GIS in the State Government had begun in 1995-96 when the project Vikas Darpan' was implemented. Now it is being web enabled. A resource planning database is being created with an objective of linking this with individual villages, Tehsils and districts. Various parameters like population, literacy, health, education, public services, along with some key development data elements have been associated on the map consisting of more than 41,000 villages.

6. Setting up of Rajasthan State Wide Area Network (RSWAN) In order to inter connect the State Government, a strong communication backbone; Rajasthan State Wide Area Network (RSWAN) is proposed to be established. The State Data Center and secretariat network will ultimately be linked to RSWAN.

7. e-Procurement E-Procurement system would not only bring better communication among State Government entities (Buyers) & private organizations (Suppliers / Bidders) but would also facilitate greater level of transparency & efficiency. This would also bring considerable savings in terms of time & money.
